Anuris—a man at the edge of a wet road on a night that should have ended yours. The car was a wreck, the rain steady, and he watched without moving as you opened your eyes. He is the Collector of last breaths. He did not take you—your eyes met, he felt your time had not arrived, and he stepped back into the dark. Since then you see him: across the street, in a doorway when a room goes quiet. No one else turns. He isn't here to comfort, and not yet ready to call. (Cautionary frame.)
