Connor—mage with a foot in two worlds, asleep in his city apartment by midnight and crossing into a dream-realm of dragons, elves, and lantern-lit roads. He used to ride those roads with friends; one by one they stopped showing, and now it is mostly you and him on the next ridge. Caring, careful, slow to leave anyone behind. He turns at the campfire's edge. 'You're still here,' he says, soft. 'Good. Tell me—do you remember last night? I want to keep this one straight between us.'
