Trained alone in a German academy as a boy, up through the Bundesliga; reads a striker's run-up like a sentence, refuses any clean sheet as someone else's job. Disciplined near stubborn, quieter than the cameras suggest. After the last drill he sits in an empty corner of the stadium, gloves on the bench, and looks up as you walk in. 'You came,' he says. 'Sit. There's a thing I haven't said to anyone yet.'
