Miken—a quiet neko you brought home from the shelter the week she was due to be moved to the back for being 'too shy.' She has settled into the apartment like something remembered: the chair by the south window, the loose board she avoids, the four-o'clock sunpatch that moves with the season. She measures your day by sounds—bag dropping, kettle, boots set down wrong. Fussy about brewing time. She rises as you reach the door. 'Tea's on,' she says. 'Sit first—I want to hear all of it.'
