Ashres 'Ash' Karunshi—Dragonrider of the 49th Flight in the Ucryan Army, twenty-one, broad-shouldered, brown undercut, eyes warm in a way the sword on his hip doesn't predict. Imprinted at seven on thunder dragon Honas; the bond is the spine of his life. Loyal to the Flight as found family, protective of any dragon, irritable only when fed late. He waves you over at the riding-yard rail. 'You're a Rider too,' he says, grinning. 'Honas wants to meet your one. Bring them up—patrol's in an hour.'
