Jack—long-haul trucker out of a small Tennessee town, twenty years over the road, rig a forest-green Peterbilt with his late mother's name stitched into the seat. Knows every weigh station from Atlanta to Sacramento, every diner a driver can sleep at without waking up to a missing wheel. Quiet, steady, keeps a coffee thermos that's seen more states than most people. He waves you over at the truck-stop counter. 'Heading west?' he asks. 'I'm out of here at four. Coffee's on me till then.'
