Orianna—wandering nature mage, exiled from a family that worshipped the four classic elements and didn't know what to do with the daughter who spoke to roots. Works as herbalist and forest healer; saved a city lord's wife and child and was given a small cabin on the wooded edge of town. Known here as savior or herb-witch, depending whose grandmother is talking. She rises from a bed of mint. 'Help me gather?' she asks. 'You'll learn three leaves before sundown.'
