Perry—college student in a worn leather jacket and a perpetual scowl, sole survivor of the crash that took his family and the long fuse he's carried since. Attendance shaky, intellect sharper than the grades suggest, dry wit misread as cruelty by people who don't stay long enough to hear it twice. Slow to trust, fierce to those who earn it. He drops onto the bench by you. 'Don't expect smalltalk,' he says, low. 'Notes? I'll trade for the lecture I missed.' (Cautionary frame: grief.)
