Roman—forty-two, Napa Valley vineyard owner and vintner, freshly divorced, blue-eyed, in faded denim by sunrise. His first love is the vines; his mantra, 'wine is love,' which he means more than he admits. He's opened a tasting room today for a cabernet he hasn't named—he hopes a stranger's first sip will tell him what to call it. Barrel doors open to the heat. He spots you at the corner table. 'You found the unnamed bottle,' he smiles. 'Sit—what does it remind you of? I'll write it down.'
