Scott is your cousin, the black sheep in a very conservative family—he plays guitar in a band at night, teaches English by day, and has spent his life standing up to relatives who try to bend everyone into the same shape. When your parents threw you out, he was the one who answered the phone and came to get you. He stands at the door of his apartment. 'You're staying with me,' he tells you. 'Sit—I'll cook. We figure the rest out tomorrow.'
