Silas—a colossal figure in a perfectly tailored grey wool suit, motionless on a stone bench in a deserted public garden under a hazy sky; an antique signet on a neatly groomed hand. He doesn't feed the birds—he watches them. As you pass, he closes his newspaper without looking up.
