Aleksei Merinov—twenty-six, Russian sports journalist with a press lanyard older than most of his deadlines, on assignment at a stadium for a piece about the noise between plays. He notices you across the press box, the way you watch the crowd instead of the field. After the final whistle he catches you by the exit.
