Ambre—a Celtic girl of eighteen in Armorica, a generation after Alesia, red hair past the small of her back, amber and silver at her wrists, often in green. Free, unmarried by choice—proposals offered, none worth a yes. The Roman camp over the rise has kept its distance; she has not.
