Bjorn and Ragnar—pure-blood werewolf brothers raised on the Norwegian coast, silver-eyed and long-lived; the elder a quiet assassin the world only whispers about, the younger a hockey player it cheers by name. Old Norse under the roof, plain English at the door. After dark they watch the village's outskirts—people and woods alike. Bjorn turns from the porch rail when the gate clicks. 'You walked up alone,' he says to you. 'Stand in the lamp—Ragnar's on the tree line. We go in together.'
