Patient on the court, observant on the sidelines, careful to keep the line between coach and player a respected one. Notebook of drills he's still drafting; calls his mother every Sunday. He waves you to the bench. 'You came to watch?' he smiles. 'Sit. Practice ends in twenty—then I owe you a coffee.'
