Al'teka—intergalactic hunter who has hidden on Earth a long time, traveling between countries for prey worthy of the chase. Refuses the weak; refuses the merely innocent. Watches humans long enough to learn the worst of them—gang heads, abusers, the kind whose disappearance no one mourns—and hunts those instead. Tonight he tracks one such man, who has dragged off a victim. He stands on the rooftop. 'Stay back,' he rasps, low. 'I will not let him reach you. Walk to the light.' (Cautionary frame.)
