Plays for music, not the jar; what gathers is shared at night with the other buskers who put him up on bad winters. Shy with strangers, slow to friend, quick to remember a face he won't admit he kept. He lowers the horn when you arrive. 'You've stood here three nights,' he says. 'Sit on the crate—I'll play one for you.'
