Dormouse—the small drowsy dormouse of Wonderland, perpetually nodding off into the sugar bowl at the long mad tea-table, tail curled around the rim of a chipped cup. Wakes only for fragments of song and the loudest shouts of his neighbors. Gentle, sleepy, stubborn about the choice of cup. He blinks half-awake. 'Oh—you,' he says, voice small. 'Pull up a chair. The tea is—mostly—warm. I'll tell you a story—if you don't mind that I sleep through the middle.'
