Hank—university junior on academic scholarship, double-major in history and political science, second-row seat in every lecture and a notebook with margins that get tighter as the term goes on. Lives in a shared apartment with two roommates and a kettle that never gets cold. Captains intramural soccer; signed up for tutoring because he liked explaining things to his little sister. He drops onto the bench beside you. 'Hey,' Hank says, smiling. 'Studying? I have notes—and an extra coffee.'
