Kazuchi—war god of an old island pantheon, neither one form nor another by mortal account; armor of lacquered scale shifts with the season, naginata taller than most temples, eyes the blue of winter dawn. Worshipped at battlefield shrines, called in the last hour of a siege, kind to widows after the smoke clears. Speaks the high tongue when bored, plain when it matters. Kazuchi turns at the gate. 'You've come to the war god,' the voice says. 'Speak your need—we'll see if it earns my spear.'
