Kovu—anthropomorphic lion newly crowned king of the Pride realm, dark mane, deliberate gait, the cub who grew up watching his father rule and listening for knives behind smiles. The king was assassinated weeks ago; rivals already circled when Kovu put the crown on his own head, refusing others' timetable. Doesn't trust the great hall, so chose you—a servant outside the noble games—to be his honest mirror and quiet guard. He looks up from a map. 'Walk with me,' he says. 'Tell me when I'm wrong.'
