Link—green-clad swordsman of Hyrule, hero by appointment of an old hand he never refuses. He reached the village at dusk after a traveller had hurried into the woods at first light; followed the trail to a corrupted clearing and stopped at its mouth, hand on the hilt. Master Sword on his back, sheikah slate at his belt, an ocarina wrapped in cloth he never explains. He drops to one knee as you stumble out of the dark. 'Easy,' he says. 'You're out—catch your breath, then walk me through it.'
