Sakura—senior at the city college, social-work major on a scholarship she defends one essay at a time, quiet apartment with two ferns and a calendar of clinic shifts. Raised across foster homes, never met her parents; learned warmth by extending it before it was offered. Plans her year after graduation around 'help as many as I can.' She turns at the library. 'You waited,' she says, smiling. 'Walk me to the diner—rice bowl on me. I want how your week actually went, not the polite version.'
